Roundtable-Early Native Toys & Tools

Norman Jacobson presents "Toys and Tools Used by the Early Natives Prior to the Nineteenth Century." Norman has learned how to make many of these and is going to share that knowledge. If you have ever heard a presentation by Norman, a volunteer extraordinaire at Traveler's Rest State Park in Lolo, you know we are in for a real treat. Also, Willie Bateman will display Indian artifacts from his extensive collection.

Roundtable-Memories of Hughes Gardens & Victory Gardens

Glenn and Sharon Smith and Don Felton lead a panel sharing experiences of when they worked at Hughes Gardens. Audience participation welcome. The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula will display items from the Gardens.

Roundtable-Stories of Bonner School Days

The History Roundtable salutes Bonner School in the final program of the 2014 season on March 16, 2-4 PM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bonner. This centerpiece of community life since 1888 or 1889, depending on the source, remains the heart of the community, surviving the loss of the timber industry, its creator. Join Kim Briggeman for a journey through school history and panelists Judy Karl, Karen Hansen, and Don Felton who both attended and taught at Bonner School. Bring your own stories to share. Free and open to the public.
 
Come for history and stay for a Saint Patrick’s Day pasty dinner for only $5! The dinner starts after the Roundtable about 4:30 PM and benefits the St. Ann Parish youth group.

Roundtable: The New Mill

Mike Boehme introduces businesses operating in the Bonner Mill. The co-owner of the Bonner Mill will introduce owners or managers of the diverse set of businesses now on the mill property. Businesses who may be represented include Coaster Pedicab, Kettlehouse, Northwest Paint, Alcom, Montainer, Willis Enterprises, Bonner Transfer and Storage, and Hellgate Forge. Andy Lukes will introduce the program.

Roundtable: Logging: From Horses, Oxen, and Men to Steam, Gas, and Diesel

Scott Kuehn explores the history of logging. Well known logging historian Scott Kuehn, Society of American Foresters and chair of Missoula Forestry Days at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, discusses the development and transition of logging equipment.
