Forestry Day at Ft. Missoula

Annual Forestry Day is produced by the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, The University of Montana Woodsman Team, and the Montana Society of American Foresters. Activities include collegiate and professional lumberjack competitions, including crosscut sawing, pole climbing, wood chopping, ax throwing, hot saws, and log rolling. There will also be an impressive array of historic forestry and logging equipment, operating steam-powered sawmill, restored fire lookout tower, hands-on opportunities for all, displays of crafts, and venders. Food and beverage will be available from Woodsman Team.

Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens, and $1 for students; children under 6 and members of the Friends of the Historical Museum are admitted free. While you're at the Museum, take the opportunity to see the new exhibits: “United We Will Win”, an exhibit showcasing the museum's collection of WWII propaganda posters (2nd largest in the USA), and “Signs of the Times”, an exhibit looking back at Missoula businesses and some of the unique signs created for them. Walk to Road to the Buffalo

Norman Jacobson will lead a walk to a site on the Road to the Buffalo on Sunday, June 22. Meet at 1:30 p.m. at the parking lot at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 8985 Montana 200, Bonner, MT.

Please call Norman at 549-3979 if you plan to attend.

The walk is 2 miles round-trip on moderate terrain. It should take about 3 1/2 hours. Bring water and sunscreen!

4th of July at Fort Missoula

The Friends of the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula are ready for Missoula's Annual 4th of July Celebration. 

Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m., with festivities following at 10:00 a.m. - rain or shine, July 4.  As a fundraiser for the Friends of the Historical Museum, admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for students, and $15 for a family.  Children under 6 and members of the Friends of the Museum are free.  The Pancake Breakfast is a separate price- $5 per person or $15 per family also for the benefit of the Friends.

Movie night: Timberjack

Watch the movie Timberjack at this fundraiser for the Bonner Milltown History Center. Suggested donation $5/adult. Kids free. Bonner School gym. Doors open at 6:30. Program begins at 7:15. Raffle tickets: $1 or 6 for $5 for chances to win a basket of jelly, a gallon of fresh apple cider, a Bonner history book, a Walter Hook Celebrations book, a Walter Hook "Bonner Legacy" poster, and much more. Proceeds go to acquiring the original movie posters from Timberjack's Missoula premiere in 1955 and for BMHC operating expenses.
